UK MPs address Kyiv businesses
28 February 2008
Nicholas Soames, MP and Winston Churchill’s grandson together with Richard Spring British Ukrainian Society Chairman were invited to take part in the BUS meeting which took place on the 28th February 2008.
The meeting was set up as a question and answer session reflecting on British support for Ukrainian business to advance Ukraine’s position in WTO.
Speakers also reflected on Ukraine’s possible accession to the EU and NATO.
A young and engaged audience of both Ukrainians and Britons based in Kyiv packed the room to hear the two British MPs giving their points of view on Ukraine’s involvement in the wider world.
The meeting culminated in a fiery question and answer session and was followed by a networking cocktail, raffle and live music.
The speakers concluded that Ukraine should independently make its choice regarding joining any organisation, political or economic association and Ukraine’s decision should be taken without outside pressure.
The event was organised in cooperation with the British Business Club in Ukraine.
