"What is Ukraine?"

The British Ukrainian Society in partnership with Ukraine International Airlines is holding a competition to find the winning answer to this question.

Ukraine is the largest country in Europe and home to 46 million people. And yet it is, by and large, a rather unfamiliar country lacking a unique or distinctive brand and does not project a clear sense of its national identity.

The Society is keen to hear what people who have an interest in Ukraine think about this question and is offering a prize, sponsored by UIA, of a weekend break for two in Kyiv to the winning entry.

By filling out the form below, we invite you to submit a strap line (max 20 words) that you feel best describes Ukraine together with a short note (max 120 words) explaining how your strap line captures the essence of Ukraine and that projects the best image of the country.

All entries will be judged by a panel of experts from top international creative and branding agencies.

Our aim is to start a dialogue on the important question of Ukraine’s national image and how it can be better projected both internally and internationally. A stronger brand for Ukraine will attract foreign investment, increase tourism spending, and create a national sense of identity that brings pride to a country and meaning to its citizens.

How to enter:

All submissions should be made via the British Ukrainian Society website.  Contestants must fill out the entry form where they can submit their strap line and explanation.

Deadline:

The website will be open to entries from 15 September 2009.  The deadline to enter is 15 February 2010.

Prizes:
The best entry will win a weekend break for two in Kyiv, courtesy of Ukraine International Airlines (including return flights London – Kyiv, hotel accommodation and transfers arranged by Panorama Tours).  Winners will receive professional feedback from the panel of judges.
Contest Rules and Regulations:
  • All entries must be submitted via the online entry form by 23:59 Greenwich Mean Time, 15 February 2010.
  • Only one entry is accepted per person.
